Parenthood is a joyous and challenging responsibility. It can be the happiest and most rewarding time of your life.
On the other hand it can be daunting if you are worried about your child.
It is reassuring to know that you have the guidance and support of your paediatrician every step of the way.
At Leading Steps Paediatric Clinic we share a passion for paediatric medicine that inspires everything we do. Knowledge and wisdom, care and compassion are integral to our child-centered focus.
Leading Steps Paediatric Clinic counts quality care as being our highest priority.
That’s why we take the time to give you our full attention.
Around the world the average length of a paediatric consultation per patient is between seven and 15 minutes.
At Leading Steps we know health issues can be complex and getting the correct diagnosis and management plan for your child will make a difference into the future. That’s why children seen in our clinic are generally given one hour as a new patient with a new problem and 30 minutes for a review consultation.
We have a collegiate approach and are always prepared to organise a second opinion for diagnosis and management. We recognise and respect the expertise of our colleagues and often consult and confer with each other regarding unusual or complex conditions.
Caring for your child’s emotional, medical and psychological well-being is central to our child centred focus. We always endeavour to provide appropriate written information to our patients and are willing to receive subsequent queries. Please ask if you would like to receive a copy of your child’s letter back to the GP.
We consider this a ”Patient-Doctor” relationship and are always keen to hear the outcome of our management advice.
Please visit our Leading Steps Paediatric Clinic Facebook page where we regularly post up to date news and medical information of interest to families.
Our clinic takes its responsibilities to improve the health of children very seriously and this includes taking on a teaching role. We provide lectures to General Practitioners around Queensland and Northern New South Wales and teach medical students from Bond University. We also have an “Advanced Training Registrar” in General Paediatrics learning in our rooms. This doctor has completed all medical and paediatric exams and works under our guidance as they complete their advanced training to become a Paediatrician.
If you prefer not to have a student or registrar present during the consultation, that is absolutely fine. Please just tell the secretaries or Paediatrician.
We are committed to timely reporting of results from any testing done. If you haven’t heard in a reasonable time (say two weeks, unless told specifically the test may take longer) about a result that you are expecting, please contact our clinic. Once again, quality care is our highest priority.
Leading Steps Paediatric Clinic includes specialist paediatric physiotherapists, psychologists and occupational therapists under the one roof for your convenience. We enjoy working together to create the best outcome for our patients.
