Dr Megan Cann is a consultant Paediatric Rheumatologist and General Paediatrician. She studied Medicine at James Cook University, graduating with a research honours in 2008.

The majority of her training in General Paediatrics was undertaken in Queensland at the Royal Children's Hospital/Queensland Children's Hospital before she embarked on Paediatric Rheumatology training. Dr Cann completed an 18 month international fellowship in Paediatric Rheumatology at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath between 2016 and 2018 followed by 12 months as the Paediatric Rheumatology Fellow at the Princess Margaret Hospital/Perth Children's Hospital. 

During her training Dr Cann has developed expertise in the management of all aspects of musculoskeletal medicine (incl. Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Juvenile Dermatomyositis, chronic pain disorders, and biomechanical disorders including hypermobility) and General Paediatrics. She is now happy to be back at home in Queensland.     

Dr Cann is committed to providing high quality, holistic care to children and their family. She enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team and ensures that the best interests of the child and family are the focus of her work. She enjoys looking after children of all ages, but has a particular interest in adolescents.

  • Immunological dysfunction

  • Adolescent medicine 

 Dr Cann has conducted and participated in multiple research projects. She is registered with PRINTO (Paediatric Rheumatology INternational Trials Organisation) and has contributed to  national and international research projects. She has published original research and presented at national and international conferences.
